A great opportunity has arisen for an Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) Clinician/Specialist to join our team for a fixed term 12-month contract starting around May 2025. It is possible that this contract could be extended for the right person.
This role will provide a unique opportunity to:
- Join an established team of ECC clinicians and specialists (currently 6 emergency vets, 12 rotating interns, 1 critical care clinician and 3 critical care specialists)
- Work alongside specialists in Internal Medicine, Soft Tissue Surgery, Orthopaedics, Neurology, Cardiology, Anaesthesia, Dermatology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology and Dentistry
- Support the admission of emergency referrals, directly manage critical inpatients and support other referral services in managing complex cases. We also work closely with the Willows Primary Emergency Service who cover the out of hours care for approximately 40 local practices.
The successful applicant would ideally have completed an ECC residency but applications are welcomed from experienced ECC certificate holders or from Internal Medicine clinicians with a strong interest in ECC. Training in critical care procedures e.g. mechanical ventilation, can be provided if required.
This well-remunerated position has working hours averaging 45 hours per week. The position includes a weekly non-clinical ‘admin day’ and rotation between early and late shifts. The team provides out of-hours support for hospitalised inpatients and critical referrals on a 1:4 rota (maximum 1:3 for short periods could be necessary to mitigate for unexpected colleague absence).
