Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week over 4 days, 1 in 5 Saturday rota, no OOH. Part-time applicants welcomed.

The Lead Veterinary Surgeon role is key to the team's success. You will be leading and working alongside a full clinical team of vets, nurses, and receptionists across all practices, aiming to provide the highest standards of care while, maximising convenience, reducing customer effort and bond clients to the Practice.

The Lead Veterinary Surgeon is responsible for managing the clinical activities of the Vets and acts as the first line of management, developing the team to optimise uptake of clinical services. 

In the Lead Veterinary Surgeon role, you will work closely with and support the Clinical Director to provide leadership, coordination, appropriate training, and development to the team. You will also need to take part in the day-to-day organisation of the team, responding to requests for unplanned absence cover.

When you're not deputising, you'll undertake duties of a vet. A surgical certificate would be desirable, however, not essential. We encourage and support certificate study if desired.

About us

Cinque Ports is an RCVS-Accredited Practice with extensive surgical, diagnostic, and medical facilities across 6 sites in the Kent/ East Sussex area. The hospital at Kingsnorth is an RCVS-Accredited Hospital and has Gold ISFM Accreditation and provides emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with VetsNow onsite providing continuity in cases and patient care. We offer keyhole surgery, laser therapy, and acupuncture treatments. You will be supported by a full and experienced team of Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN), that carry out both nurse consults and vaccinations.

We are excellently equipped including inhouse lab, ECG, Endoscopy, ultrasound, radiography, separate dental room for all procedures dentistry x-ray, separate client care area, digital radiography, doppler ultrasonography, in-house laboratory, laparoscopic equipment and video endoscope and bronchoscope.

Our experienced team hold a wealth of knowledge and have interests in surgery, radiography, anaesthesia, feline behaviour, dentistry, we have visiting referral ophthalmologist, and feline medicine specialist.

We use team steps, which enable us to minimise communication errors within the teams here a Cinques Ports. We are a very sociable team and actively encourage team get togethers including bowling, nights, and days out, and Christmas parties are not to be missed.

The village of Kingsnorth has an interesting and historical background featured in the Domesday Book of 1086. Part of the village is a designated conservation area making it a mixed rural and urban village with excellent local facilities and supporting infrastructure. With easy access to Ashford, Kingsnorth is an idyllic village location for those who need to travel locally or commute to London/Europe on a regular basis.
