Veterinary Specialists Scotland is a new multi-disciplinary referral hospital at Deer Park, Livingston, close to Edinburgh and Glasgow. We have created a state-of-the-art facility and assembled a team of highly motivated Specialists, nurses and support colleagues, to deliver the best possible clinical care to pets from all over Scotland and Northern England.


Your role and responsibilities

We have an exciting new opportunity available to join the team as the Medicine Nurse Team Leader due to expansion of our busy department.  

Our medicine team currently consists of a lead nurse and 9 medicine nurses. We have specialist veterinary surgeons in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Dermatology, soft tissue, orthopaedics, neurology and anaesthesia. We work closely alongside the imaging team to perform advanced pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative imaging including radiology, fluoroscopy, CT and MRI.  

The position will involve line managerial duties and with it a great opportunity to continue to lead the medicine team forward, whilst still undertaking clinical work. Relevant CPD and certificates are strongly encouraged in all our referral nurses. 

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience in a referral setting and will demonstrate effective medicine scheduling and supportive team leadership skills.

They will also be confident and competent in monitoring anaesthesia for a range of patients for medical procedures, including emergency, critically ill patients and interventional radiography procedures.  

However, further in house training and support is available where required.
