Your role and responsibilities

Our clinical training internship in veterinary neurology is a one-year programme. The programme includes clinical neurology and neurosurgery, and you will have primary case responsibility for emergencies. You will participate in an out of hours on-call rota for neurological and neurosurgical emergencies. The clinical training programme is well supported by 5 Neurology clinicians , 2 ECVN residents and rotating general interns. The team is assisted by 3 dedicated neurology nurses and a neurology PCA

Facilities include on-site MRI, computed tomography, fluoroscopy, electrodiagnostic system including video EEG, and radiation therapy. Specialists in internal medicine, orthopaedic and soft-tissue surgery, cardiology, oncology, radiation therapy, anaesthesia, ophthalmology, radiology and exotic animals will also support the programme.  

Teaching and clinical research is also emphasised, the programme includes daily clinical rounds and bi-weekly journal club, book reading and resident seminar series

You need to be a highly motivated self-starter with: 

  • The ability to work as part of a team and individually 
  • An inclination to learn, and develop your skills  
  • A desire to provide the best clinical service to all our patients and clients 
  • A good sense of humour 

You must fulfil the following requirements:  

  • Completed a recognised rotational internship, ideally in the UK
  • Have an excellent command of written and spoken English 
  • Maintain a professional and caring approach in all aspects of your work 
  • MRCVS registered (or eligible) 

Job Type: Fixed Term 12 months

Hours: 5 days a week + nights and weekend on call
