Abbey House Veterinary Hospital is based in Morley, seven miles south of Leeds with great train and bus links into the city, as well as easy access to the beautiful Peak District and the city of York less than 1 hour away.  

We are a high standard Primary Care and Referral Tier 3 Hospital & training Practice (proudly Cat-Friendly) with four satellite clinics. Our facilities are excellent (4 theatres, separate cat/dog/rabbit wards plus ICU, CT, oncology suite, visiting MRI, scopes including laparoscopy, operating microscope, dental suite with x-ray, high spec internal lab with lab tech) and we have an experienced and supportive Nurse Leadership Team. Our out of hours (OOH) service is run by our own dedicated night team, meaning our caseload is amazing but there is no requirement to work regular OOH.

We are committed to individual career advancement and can support clinical skills development at all levels, as well as progression into leadership and Clinical Education roles. We have access to a HUGE bank of Linnaeus CPD including the AVA accredited Anaesthesia, RECOVER, ECC and leadership development.

Your role and responsibilities

We are currently looking for an oncology nurse to join our team. An RVN with experience or a keen interest in oncology would be considered. The role will involve:

  • Working in a dedicated oncology suite 
  • Administration of chemotherapy including CRIs  
  • Carrying out follow-up admits / discharges for the Oncologist plus regular personalized ongoing client communication 
  • End of life consultations  
  • Excellent blood taking and application of “one stick” skills needed. 
  • Assisting with monitoring of Lymph nodes, take FNSs, CTs, x-rays and ultrasound scans  
  • Responsible for all day-to-day stock control and administration of the department  
  • Fully supported training provided and a lot of relevant CPD available.

Rota:

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week over 4 days including 1:4 weekends 

Shifts are either an 8 am or a 9.30 am start with an hour off for lunch.
