Wear Referrals (part of Linnaeus Veterinary Limited, owned by Mars) is a multi-disciplinary, specialist veterinary referral hospital in the North East of England, close to the historic university city of Durham, the thriving city of Newcastle, and set between the northeast coast and the Pennines. The hospital is also within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and Scotland.
Our specialist services include neurology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, oncology, diagnostic imaging and cardiology, as well as a busy primary care out-of-hours emergency service and in-house physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. Our team of 170 staff includes 17 European/RCVS Specialists and over 65 registered veterinary nurses.

Your role and responsibilities
We are pleased to announce that we are currently inviting applications for our 12-month fixed-term Second Year, Fixed Term Neurology Internship, working with our team of three ECVS Specialists and dedicated discipline specific neurology nurses.
Our hospital facilities include a dedicated ICU staffed 24 hours a day, spacious wards with walk-in kennels, in-house 1.5T Siemens Magnetom Essenza MRI, 16 slice Siemens Somatom Emotion helical CT, digital radiography, digital fluoroscopy, a Samsung RS85 ultrasound system and Arthrex / Karl Storz Laparoscopic/thoracoscopic and arthroscopic imaging systems.
Our second year internships are available to candidates who are currently completing a Rotating Internship at a Referral Hospital, or who have previously completed a discipline specific neurology internship.
Candidates will be expected to play an active role in supporting the neurology department, with increasing responsibility over time. They will also take part in discipline specific CPD and research, and provide OOH multi-disciplinary support including weekends and nights as part of the wider internship team.
We encourage an evidence-based multidisciplinary approach, supporting a process of continuous learning and a collegiate atmosphere. Our extensive clinical caseload provides an interesting variety of cases and supports ongoing clinical research that is actively encouraged and supported. Linnaeus Veterinary Limited facilitates a highly collaborative approach between their hospitals and colleagues.
Hours: 45 hours per week over any 5 days Monday to Sunday including OOH nights and weekend cover as part of the rota.
