Here at Calder Vets, we welcome referrals from across Yorkshire and we are proud to provide our own 24-hour on site emergency care through our dedicated ECC night team. We offer a full range of primary care services, such as consultations, preventative healthcare, vaccinations, routine and non-routine surgery, dentistry, and imaging (x-ray and ultrasound). We are also able to offer some advanced services at our main site in Dewsbury, such as; laparoscopy, endoscopy, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, cardiology, ophthalmology, and CT scans, and we have our own rehabilitation service with physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and laser therapy.

We have a fantastic team across all of our sites, and we all support each other. We often discuss clinical cases and get involved in social events. We have a large vet team and are supported by fantastic nursing and front of house teams. Six of our vets are working towards certificates in surgery, imaging, dermatology, cardiology and ophthalmology.

Our Brighouse practice is one of our larger satellite sites with two consultation rooms and a third to come in the coming months. The site is self-sufficient with all of the equipment that you would expect of a primary care site, including x-ray. This is a fantastic role for an experienced Vet Surgeon looking to take the next step in their career, or for an experienced Senior Vet Surgeon looking for a rewarding position that can offer great rapport with clients, case continuity and the chance to work more independently but still be part of a larger group and network.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Senior Vet Surgeon your role will include, building strong relationships with clients and performing high quality medicine and surgery, working closely with the Lead Vets and Senior Leadership Team to help drive the clinics forward; line management of the vet team (approx. 2-4 vets), ensuring we are delivering a quality service, and more.

Our ethos is clinical excellence, and we try and live by our core values. Client and patient care are at the heart of what we do and we are proud to be a Cat Friendly Clinic. We run on 15-minute consults as a minimum.

  • Hours: Just 3.5 days per week; Shifts: 2x 8am-8pm, 1x 8am-6pm, 1x 8am-1pm; 1 in 4 weekends (8am-6pm)
