Abbey House was founded in 1977 and has grown rapidly over the years. Abbey House today is a large, busy Primary Care and middle-tier Referral practice in West Yorkshire with four branch sites. We care for small animals and some exotics at our Kippax branch. We see referrals from across Yorkshire and have a fantastic caseload for clinical development. We are passionate about quality, clinical excellence and patient care. Due to our advanced and varied caseload, we can support most professional areas of interest.

Our fantastic 24/7 Tier 3 Hospital has excellent equipment with CT, visiting MRI, four theatres, onsite lab, rigid/flexible endoscopy including laparoscopy, ICU, plus lots more!

Three of the four branches have operating facilities. Our branch clinics at Kippax and Croft House perform neutering and routine surgical procedures along with x-rays and laboratory tests. All of the clinics have fully stocked dispensaries. We are also proud of our commitment to sustainability and are working towards our iiE Bronze (Investors in the environment).

We have phenomenal day and night teams here at Abbey House Vets. We have a large vet team including seven certificate holders in surgery, oncology, ophthalmology and dermatology. We are supported by an experienced nurse team and a fantastic front of house team.

 

Your role and responsibilities


Due to recent growth, we now have some fantastic opportunities available for a Twilight Vet to join our Night Vet team!

Your role as a Twilight Vet will see you working alongside a Night Vet and you will have the support of a fantastic Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN), Student Veterinary Nurses (SVN) and Reception team too.


This is an exciting role for an experienced Night Vet looking for shorter shifts or a Veterinary Surgeon looking to build on their emergency and critical care medicine and surgery. We cover Out of Hours (OOH) services for many local practices as well as many referral services, which means your night shift caseload can be exciting and varied. We have a great ICU and critical care facilities, and this is a wonderful opportunity for a surgeon with an ECC interest.

During your week of day shifts, we are happy for you to choose whether you wish to work at our branch sites or hospital. This is a great chance to work on any areas of professional interests that you may have.The right candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who feels comfortable with all Primary Care duties.

Hours: Shift pattern, (totals less than 40 hours per week); Week 1: Mon – Fri 5 days on, Sat/Sun off; Week 2: Mon-Sun twilight (2 pm - 1 am/3 pm–2 am); Week 3: Week off; assisted by a full night team.
