We have comprehensive and established clinical and non-clinical programmes for training, development and CPD.

You can find us in Hampshire, just south of Winchester, close to the M3 and national and international transport links. We are in a serene countryside setting with state-of-the-art facilities and are available to look after pets 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Your role and responsibilities

We are currently looking for a full-time imaging technician or a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with an interest in Imaging, to rotate through ultrasound and x-ray modalities with the potential for further CT and MRI training once probation and all necessary training needs have been met. As a technician you will also share the responsibility of controlling the level of cleanliness within the imaging department, so a good eye for detail and high standards is key within this role.

You should be passionate, proactive and dedicated to maintain the highest standards. Although veterinary experience and anatomical knowledge is beneficial, it is not essential as formal training will be provided.

The Technician position would suit an individual who really enjoys being around people and animals, and working as part of a team with a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities include:

  • Carry out modality specific imaging procedures (operating X-ray machines +/- CT, MRI scanners) to best practice standards of radiographic technique (MHRA Guidance 2015, IR(ME)R 2017, Code of Clinical Practice) after appropriate training
  • Maintaining high levels of cleanliness throughout the department
  • Cleaning and turning around clinical rooms between examinations and helping with efficient throughput of patient
  • Assisting nurses or interns to restrain patients for ultrasound examinations
  • Assisting the radiologists in the processing of biopsies and other laboratory samples, and assisting with drainage procedures (after appropriate training)
  • Together with other support staff help with the maintenance and servicing schedule of imaging equipment
  • Ordering and restocking consumables and equipment
  • Maintaining clinical standards
  • Liaising with nursing and anaesthesia teams as well as members of the imaging department.

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be confident working with computers
  • Have a high sense of responsibility and consideration for the safety of your colleagues and patients
  • Be proactive and keen to learn new skills
  • Have good communication and organisational skills and the ability to work independently once fully trained
  • Have ideally previous experience working with animals and anatomical knowledge, however not essential.
