Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists are recruiting for a part-time Theatre Technician to join their team. Part-time hours are 29h per week 06:00am-09:00am Monday, Wednesday, Friday and 06:00-16:30 Tuesday and Thursday  with participation in the ‘on call’ rota. Saturdays 08:00-13:00 once every 4 weeks.

We accept referrals for Orthopaedic Surgery, Soft Tissue Surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Cardiology, Anaesthesia, Dermatology, Diagnostic Imaging, Oncology, Physiotherapy as well as Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) and a Pain Clinic. 

We have comprehensive and established clinical and non-clinical programmes for training, development and CPD. 

You can find us in Hampshire, just south of Winchester, close to the M3 and national and international transport links. We are in a serene countryside setting with state-of-the-art facilities and are available to look after pets 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Your role and responsibilities  

 As a Prep Technician and vital part of the Nursing team, you should be passionate, dedicated and strive to maintain the highest clinical and professional standards. You will be working in a fast-paced team that requires a great eye for detail.  

Although experience working with animals is beneficial, it is not essential as formal training will be provided.  

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for: 

  • Assisting the nursing team with setting up for induction of patients to include:
  • Intravenous catheter baskets  
  • Fluid therapy  
  • Intubation equipment 
  •  Patient prep solutions  
  • Table set up  
  • Holding patients for:  
    • Intravenous catheter placement  
    • induction of anaesthesia 
    • administration of sedation  
    • ultrasound in the absence of an imaging technician 
    • Clipping patients for procedures  
    • Prepping patients for surgical procedures  
  • Working with the Theatre Technicians to assist in the cleaning and sterilising kit when needed.  
  • Assisting patients into theatre 
  • Assisting other departments when required.  
  • All general cleaning tasks within the induction, prep area and Theatre 
  • Restocking prep and induction areas ready for the day. 
  • Reporting any damaged or broken equipment.  

 

To be considered for this role, candidates must be: 

  • Passionate, dedicated and strive to maintain the highest clinical and professional standards. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, although experience working with animals is beneficial, it is not essential as formal training will be provided. 
  • Experience of working within a clinical and/or high-pressured environment, and/or experience of working with animals within a professional or personal capacity. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and stay calm 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Ability to deal with client information in a confidential manner 
  • Good time management skills 
  • Working within a busy team and can work on own initiative 
  • Methodical approach to working. 
  • Passion for the welfare of animals. 
  • Willingness to be part of and support the wider team 
  • Great satisfaction in achieving high standards of cleanliness.
