Oak Barn is a Listed Barn in Shalford. We’re surrounded by fields yet only 5 minutes from the centre of Guildford.

We are a Primary Care Practice that focuses on small animals and pets in Guildford, Surrey. Our practice offers state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and modern facilities to create a homely and relaxed environment for the animals we care for. We pride ourselves on traditional values and treat our patients as if they were one of our own.

Our 6 vet Team include certificate holders (2 x Internal medicine, 1 x dental, and an EEC underway), experienced vets and 2 recent graduates. We work closely with a fantastic team of nurses and receptionists. As a team we hold regular meetings to discuss ideas and action concerns, we encourage new ideas and invest in our vet’s passions. We strive to offer the very best care to our patients and their owners by giving a quality service.


Your role and responsibilities

Rare opportunity for a Vet Surgeon to join our team at Oak Barn Vets to cover maternity leave in the heart of Shalford, Guildford.

Would you like to work in the beautiful Guildford countryside with a direct train to London?

Hours and package

  • Salary up to £55,000
  • 1 year fixed term contract
  • 40-hour week worked over 4 days (same day off each week)
  • Shifts between 8 am-7 pm
  • Saturday mornings on a rota of 2:5 (8 am-12 pm)
  • Out of hours covered by an external provider
  • No bank holidays or Sundays
  • No sole charge (even on Saturday mornings).

We are looking for a good all-round GP with some experience who enjoys working with a like-minded bunch of people. Wherever it be a morning of routine vaccinations or getting stuck in with something more challenging. Some experience in laparoscopy would be an advantage although not essential. You will have a good mix of consults, operating and admin time.

We are looking for a caring and compassionate Veterinary Surgeon to join our supportive, friendly, and non-judgemental vet team. You will also be working alongside a fab team of proactive and supportive nursing team. The ideal candidate must have a friendly approach, great communication skills and the ability to work up cases to a high standard – we are all about quality.
