Here at St Clair Vets, we have a busy caseload and provide a full range of routine primary care services and specialist services in ophthalmology referral and ancillary treatments such as acupuncture. We are a progressive, well-equipped practice in Kirkcaldy that’s been at the very heart of our local community for many years. We take pride in providing a caring, compassionate, and friendly service to all our clients and their precious pets.
As a group, we are well equipped and have an extensive range of surgical and diagnostic equipment available which includes in-house biochemistry/haematology machines, operating microscopes, digital x-ray, ultrasound, video endoscope plus all the usual toys! You will be supported by our large, dedicated Vet team, highly experienced clinical directors, wonderful, experienced nurses, and a fantastic front of house team. Our team are important to us and you will feel supported at St Clair Vets. We all pull together through the hard times but equally enjoy each other’s company and are never short of humour. We have a big focus on mental health and work-life balance too. We often discuss clinical cases and when possible, we do often attend socialising events.
Professional development is something that we are really keen to support and do encourage at St Clair’s and we would be happy to consider supporting certificates where possible. Our varied caseload means we have been able to welcome & support many certificate holders over the years. In our team, we currently have Certificate holders or Vets studying towards certs in; ECC, surgery, ophthalmology, internal medicine and more. We do have a small exotics caseload that we would be keen to consider increasing and welcome Vets with Exotic certificates/interests. We would also be open to supporting consultation only roles. On top of your personal CPD allowance, you will also have access to the wider Linnaeus team of referral specialists for further support and CPD. We encourage everyone within the team to have an input and feedback on the practice's future.
St Clair Veterinary Group is situated on the beautiful Fife coast with several picturesque fishing villages only a short drive away and many outdoor pursuits right on your doorstep. Plus, if you need the buzz of a capital city, you’ll be in Edinburgh in 40 minutes. So, we really do have the best of both worlds! The cost of living is relatively good locally too and our nearest airport is just a 30-minute drive away.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Veterinary Surgeon at St Clair Vets, your role will be a varied one and your working week will include a good mixture of surgery and consultations. We care for all small animals, wildlife, some exotics and even the odd seal! You will see a variation of routine, preventative, and more advanced cases during your working week, and you will have the opportunity to work between our sites which will offer you different paces & caseloads. If mentoring is something you enjoy, we have lots of opportunities to mentor & support our more recently graduated team members too.
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available
- 4 or 5 day weeks welcome. Although we are flexible on rota and would be keen to discuss the ideal rota for you
- No out of hours (OOH)
- Just 1 in 4 weekends covered by two Vet Surgeons.
We really do treat our patients as we would our own and as one of the family so we are looking to welcome a Surgeon who is passionate about offering high standards and fantastic customer service. The right candidates for our roles will also be Veterinary Surgeons who feels comfortable with most or all first opinion duties. We are flexible with shift patterns as we value the importance of a work-life balance.
- Salary of up to £35,000 - £50,000, dependent on experience/ post-graduation studies
