Here at St Clair’s Veterinary Group, we have a fantastic opportunity available for a Veterinary Surgeon with an exotics certificate, or interest, to join our wonderful team.
Here at St Clair Vets, we have a busy caseload and provide a full range of routine primary care services and specialist services in ophthalmology referral and ancillary treatments like acupuncture. We are a progressive, well-equipped practice in Kirkcaldy that’s been at the very heart of our local community for many years. We take pride in providing a caring, compassionate, and friendly service to all our clients and their precious pets.
As a group, we are well equipped and have an extensive range of surgical and diagnostic equipment available which includes in-house biochemistry/haematology machines, operating microscopes, digital x-ray, ultrasound, video endoscope plus all the usual toys! You will be supported by our large, dedicated Vet team, highly experienced clinical directors, wonderful, experienced nurses, and a fantastic front of house team. Our team are important to us and you will feel supported at St Clair Vets. We all pull together through the hard times but equally enjoy each other’s company and are never short of humour. We have a big focus on mental health and work-life balance too. We often discuss clinical cases and when possible, we do often attend socialising events.
Professional development is something that we are really keen to support and do encourage at St Clair’s and we would be happy to consider supporting certificates where possible. Our varied caseload means we have been able to welcome & support many certificate holders over the years. In our team we currently have Certificate holders or Vets studying towards certs in; ECC, surgery, ophthalmology, internal medicine and more. We do have a small exotics caseload that we would be keen to consider increasing and welcome Vets with Exotic certificates/interests. We would also be open to supporting consultation only roles. On top of your personal CPD allowance, you will also have access to the wider Linnaeus team of referral specialists for further support and CPD. We encourage everyone within the team to have an input and feedback on the practice's future.
St Clair Veterinary Group is situated on the beautiful Fife coast with several picturesque fishing villages only a short drive away and many outdoor pursuits right on your doorstep. Plus, if you need the buzz of a capital city, you’ll be in Edinburgh in 40 minutes. So, we really do have the best of both worlds! The cost of living is relatively good locally too and our nearest airport is just a 30-minute drive away.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Veterinary Surgeon at St Clair Vets, your role will be a varied one. We care for all small animals, wildlife, some exotics and even the odd seal!
Due to increase in demand, we are now looking to grow our exotics service/caseload and would be keen to welcome a surgeon with an exotics certificate or keen interest to be part of this new chapter. Initially, a large percentage of your role will still include caring for small animals alongside your exotics cases, as your exotics caseload builds. A nurse within the St Clair’s team has completed an exotics certificate and is keen to work alongside a surgeon with an exotics interest.
- We are flexible on rota and would be keen to discuss the ideal rota for you
- Full time roles can be over 4 or 5 days.
- No out of hours (OOH)
- Just 1 in 4 weekends covered by two Vet Surgeons.

- Salary of up to £35,000 - £50,000, dependent on experience/ post-graduation studies
