We have an exciting opportunity for a Full or Part Time Veterinary Surgeon at Maven Veterinary Care, a multiple award-winning 100% small animal practice with Gold Cat Friendly Clinic status and 4 Outstanding RCVS Awards, based in North Cheam, South London. We have modern outstanding facilities and an award-winning design.

  • Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 dependent on experience
  • Location: Maven Veterinary Care, North Cheam
  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Hours: Full time: 43 hours a week or Part time: 26 hours per week
  • 1 in 9 weekends (8-4 Saturday, 10-2 Sunday) and 1 in 9 Saturdays (8-4) with time off in lieu the following week
  • No out of hours or bank holidays, covered by Vets Now clinic on-site.

Applicants will have at least 2 years practice experience post qualification and have medical, imaging and surgical skills.

Your role and responsibilities

A typical day at Maven sees an interesting and varied case load for both medical and surgical cases. We thrive to exceed expectations by providing expert care for our clients and their pets. We are a friendly and compassionate team, with 8 Veterinarians, with multiple certificate holders. We also have a large nurse and reception team to support our vets, all passionate to work to the highest standards for our busy case load.  

Applicants must demonstrate experience in a small animal practice, be able to work well within a team and be able to focus on maintaining high levels of both patient and client care. Applicants will be warm, compassionate, self motivated, have a positive attitude and approach with our team, patients and clients.

The shift patterns are variable to support our commitment to a work life balance. The hours include both early (7.30am - 3.30pm or 8am – 4pm) and late (10am – 8pm) shifts plus 1 in 9 weekends. Our Out of hours is managed by Vets Now onsite, meaning that patients can be readily hospitalised for intensive treatment and there is no out of hours or bank holiday to work. Our consulting appointments are 15 minutes long.

Currently, we have 10 vets, 6 of whom have post-graduate certificates, 12 Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) with 3 Student Veterinary Nurses, and they are supported by 4 Veterinary Care Assistants (VCAs). Additionally, we have a dedicated Client Care team of 9 and a Practice Manager. Maven are supported with 24 hour provision from Vets Now who are on site to provide an afterhours service.
