Willows specialist earns prestigious editorial role

Sebastien Behr, head of neurology and neurosurgery at Willows Veterinary Centre and Referral Service, in Solihull, has become part of the editorial board in view of his recent excellent publications record and expertise

It’s an important industry role for the RCVS and European specialist in neurology, who has been at Willows, which is part of Linnaeus, for 10 years and leads the hospital’s internationally-renowned neurology service.

Sebastien said: “I am honoured and delighted to have been appointed to such a prestigious role and to be part of an award-winning organisation.

“The peer review process of Frontiers uniquely consists of a collaborative approach between the authors, the reviewers and the appointed editor to enhance the quality of the manuscript.”

As an associate editor, Sebastien will play an integral part in Frontiers' collaborative peer-review process, managing and overseeing the peer review of manuscripts relating to Veterinary Neurology and Neurosurgery.

The position will also see the Willows specialist contribute to the strategic direction of the section by annually nominating themes for high-profile article collections and co-lead selected collections relevant to his expertise.

Sebastien has widespread experience in publishing having previously served on the Editorial Board (Neurology and Neurosurgery) of the Journal of Small Animal Practice, (JSAP). He has also co-authored on a number of high-profile research publications with colleagues from Willows’ specialist-led neurology-neurosurgery service, published in some of the most respected scientific journals in the industry.

Sebastien said: “Such publications have helped to increase the visibility of the great clinical research performed at Willows, which complements and promotes our daily practice of clinical excellence in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery.”

Sebastien graduated from the Veterinary School of Toulouse, France in 2001. He was awarded the Diploma of the European College of Veterinary Neurology in 2006 and the following year he was recognised as an RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Neurology.

He has special interests in idiopathic inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system, advanced neuro-imaging, brain and spinal surgery, and in particular advanced spinal surgery incorporating the use of 3D printing which has been pioneered in veterinary medicine at Willows with the support of Bill Oxley, founder Vet3D.
