Moving to the UK FAQs

How does Brexit impact me working in the UK?

The UK is still very much open for applications from overseas and we are welcoming all nationalities into Linnaeus to come and work for us.

Post Brexit you will need to apply for a visa in order to work in the UK but don’t worry as this is something we can not only help you navigate but also help you to pay for.

You will also need to have graduated from an EAEVE accredited university, the link to these can be found here.

How does the visa process work?

When you are moving to the UK to work, you will need to apply for a Skilled Worker visa, which allows you to come to or stay in the UK to do an eligible job with an approved employer.

Do you need a visa?

We can offer support in determining if you need a visa, if you are unsure then click here.

The UK is still very much open for applications from overseas and we are welcoming all nationalities into Linnaeus to come and work for us.

What other things do I need to consider to work in the UK?

Moving to a new country is a big step and there will be a number of different things that you will need to set up such as a UK bank account, relevant insurances such as VDS cover for your work, housing, and cars among a few.

We have a handy downloadable guide to support you with this with some links to a few useful places. To request a copy of our guide, please complete the form or email us at [email protected].

Is there anything else I need to know?

Your job will need to fulfil the following requirements to be eligible for a Skilled Worker Visa -

  • Vets – minimum salary £32,000 based on a 39hr/week
  • RVNs – minimum salary £26,500 based on 39hr/week

Skilled Worker Visa applicants must also provide evidence that they can support themselves in the UK as part of their application. This means providing evidence that you have at least £1270 in your bank account for at least 28 days in a row (within 31 days of visa application).

Can I bring my partner/family?

Yes, families can join Skilled Worker Visa holders, if eligible.

Are there any fees involved?

You will also be required to pay an NHS surcharge of £624 per person per year.
