Location: Calder Vets – Dewsbury Hospital

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time - 4-days a week plus one in four Saturdays.

Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking a veterinary surgeon with a strong dental bias to work alongside the team at our 24 hour Tier III accredited hospital in Dewsbury. The ideal candidate would have, or be studying towards, a dental certification, although consideration would be given towards someone with strong experience in the field. The dental suite is well equipped with all the kit needed for performing high-level first opinion procedures alongside more advanced surgeries. You would be working alongside a specialised dental nurse plus an experienced and driven RVN team.

The rota would be four days a week plus one-in-four Saturdays. Your days at the hospital would be spent performing dentistry plus helping out with other first opinion procedures if needed, followed by evening consultations. There is no OOH commitment as the site runs a separate night team. Bank holidays are usually one per year and allocated primarily on a voluntary basis with TOIL.

Salary for the role is up to £70k DOE and skill level. Ideally, we are looking for a full time veterinary surgeon but would be willing to discuss part time with the right candidate. CPD allowance is £2k per annum as standard but certification is encouraged and funded by individual discussion.

The clinic has been awarded outstanding in all categories in the Practice Standards Award Scheme. We offer a range of mid-tier surgeries on site and have a brand new CT scanner plus top spec ultrasonography and radiography. The clinic is town centre based and offers good public transport options but is also surrounded by some lovely countryside and good links to cities such as Leeds and Wakefield for anyone considering relocation.
