Internal Medicine Discipline-Specific Internship Position  

Salary: £37,000

Location: Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire border

Job Type: 1 year fixed term

Your role and responsibilities

We are now offering an exciting opportunity to join our friendly hospital as an Internal Medicine Discipline-Specific Intern. You would be in addition to a team of three junior clinicians who are undertaking our established ECVIM-CA approved residency program. The medicine team further consists of nine ECVIM diplomats, providing a wealth of experience and support for interns and residents in training.

The team manages a range of complex cases, working alongside cardiology, ophthalmology, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, neurology, dermatology and dentistry teams. We work together with our specialist-led anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging teams, alongside a highly skilled nursing and support team. 

The ideal candidate will have completed a multi-disciplinary 12-month rotating small animal internship, or have worked in a high quality small animal first opinion practice for a minimum of 2 years. They also must be highly self-motivated, be a clear communicator, love to work within a team, and obviously have a passion for all things Medicine!

Weekend and evening cover is based on a shared rota with other clinicians assuring a healthy work-life balance. 

You must fulfil the following requirements:

  • Have an excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Maintain a professional and caring approach in all aspects of your work
  • Provide evidence of your Right to Work in the UK.
  • Undergraduate Veterinary Degree
  • RCVS current membership
  • Previous experience of clinical cases
  • Competent in use of Microsoft office and clinical systems for email, producing letters and report, recording accurate patient records, etc
