We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our expanding Medicine team at Veterinary Specialists Scotland.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated nurse who enjoys working in a busy referral environment and wants to develop their clinical skills within a progressive, multi-disciplinary team.

You’ll work alongside an exceptional group of specialists in a state-of-the-art facility, providing outstanding care to a diverse and complex caseload.

About the Medicine Team

Our Medicine department is a busy and collaborative service working alongside specialists across:

  • Internal Medicine

  • Cardiology

  • Dermatology

  • Soft Tissue Surgery

  • Orthopaedics

  • Neurology

  • Anaesthesia

Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. We work closely with our Imaging team to deliver advanced diagnostics and procedures including radiography, fluoroscopy, CT and MRI — both pre-, intra- and post-operatively.

The Role

As a Medicine RVN, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day clinical work of the Medicine service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Medicine team with inpatient care and procedures

  • Monitoring anaesthesia for a wide range of procedures, including emergency and critically ill patients and interventional radiography

  • Assisting with advanced diagnostics and treatments

  • Delivering exceptional patient and client care

  • Working closely with clinicians and nursing colleagues across multiple disciplines

  • Supporting efficient patient flow and maintaining high clinical standards

  • Contributing to a positive, collaborative team environment

This is a hands-on clinical role where you will develop your skills while working alongside specialists and experienced referral nurses.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is an RCVS-registered RVN

  • Has a minimum of 1 years’ experience as an RVN

  • Is confident monitoring anaesthesia

  • Has strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Enjoys working as part of a collaborative team

  • Thrives in a fast-paced referral environment

Referral experience is advantageous but not essential. Further in-house training and support are available for the right candidate.

About Veterinary Specialists Scotland

Veterinary Specialists Scotland is a purpose-built, rapidly expanding, multi-disciplinary referral centre located in Livingston — just 20 minutes from Edinburgh, 40 minutes from Glasgow, and 15 minutes from Edinburgh Airport.
