Here at Hawick Vets we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic all-rounder to join our friendly experienced team in a truly mixed practice, based in the beautiful Scottish Borders.

Hawick Veterinary Practice was first established in the 1960s and has grown a lot through the years. In 2011, we made the move to our new, purpose-built premises with excellent facilities for all species onsite. We are well equipped with BCF scanners, small and equine ultrasound, digital x-ray small and equine, endoscopy and dental x-ray.

We have a fantastic team of 7 vets including a CertAVP holder and the great support from a team of 5 dedicated RVNs. We have a wonderful front of house team who really do go the extra mile.

Your role and responsibilities

Your role would be a varied one with an interesting caseload, no two days are the same! There is room for special interests which would be encouraged and supported. Your days will include scope to pursue individual specialisation and an equine interest would be an advantage although not essential. We have a great rapport with our clients some of whom have been coming to us for many years.

Good work-life balance is important to us and there are lots to enjoy in your spare time being based in the traditional Borders town of Hawick, amongst stunning surroundings with easy access to great walking, biking and many outdoor activities. We have the added bonus of being just over a 60 minutes’ drive to Edinburgh/Newcastle/Carlisle too.

Hours: 37.5 (Working 4.5 day per week, evening surgery ends at 6pm, 1 in 5 weekends with Monday off, 1 night/week on call. (On-call support available if needed))
