Your role and responsibilities

A Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) Team Leader position has become available at Cave Veterinary Specialists, Wellington, Somerset. We welcome applications for part time applicants.

Our RVN team have the opportunity to be involved in the care and support of patients from all disciplines including internal medicine, oncology, neurology, soft tissue, and orthopaedic surgery and dentistry.

The successful individual will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skillset in referral veterinary nursing as well as leading the night team and developing the night Lead RVN.

Main purpose & goals:

• Maintain an overview of the nursing team that you are responsible for and ensure the highest standard of nursing and client care across the team that you lead, according to practice policy and Linnaeus business strategy

• Demonstrate a high level of knowledge, understanding and practical skills within the area of responsibility, allowing you to effectively lead by example

• Liaise with other Team Leaders and departments to ensure efficient patient flow throughout the hospital

• Represent the nursing team within your area of responsibility at nurse leadership meetings. You will be expected to provide information to these meetings but also cascade relevant information back to the team, ensuring effective lines of communication.

• Work closely with the Veterinary Surgeons, HoNS and non-clinical teams, including the attendance of regular meetings to ensure all areas of the practice work together effectively and efficiently

• Ensure the efficient running of the clinical service at all times through management of the nursing team in your area of responsibility, but also support when necessary, either with coordinating workflow or with general nursing duties

• Monitor the performance of team members, perform regular performance reviews and ensure that the appropriate training and support is provided, in order for the nursing staff to implement the highest standards of care required at all times.

• In collaboration with the HoNS and People and Organisation, effectively manage any performance, disciplinary or attendance concerns within the nursing team

Approximately 80% of the role will be clinical, allowing for 20% of the time for administrative duties

Leadership experience is essential.
