Salary: From £32,000 per annum

Hours: Permanent, Full time, 40 hours per week- some occasional weekend work if required

Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our expanding team at Veterinary Specialists Scotland as Patient Flow Co-ordinator

This is a key role, working alongside the clinical and non clinical team, to ensure the smooth running and effective flow of patients through Veterinary Specialists Scotland, from the point of admission to that of discharge. The Patient flow coordinator should be a highly motivated and enthusiastic person, promote good staff morale and a positive culture and motivate the whole nursing team to embrace VSS Core Values with the overall goal of achieving a clinically excellent veterinary standards throughout the practice. 

You’ll work alongside an exceptional group of specialists in a state-of-the-art facility, providing outstanding care to a diverse and complex caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that you are a Culture Leader – exhibiting awareness of and adherence to Core Values. Be a positive presence in the workplace.
  • Liaise between the nursing team and all other teams within the practice and group to ensure effective lines of communication at all times.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate the highest professional standards.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of staff motivation and team working. Be willing to undertake further training where necessary to support this role.
  • Provide encouragement and support the veterinary team.
  • Promote practice and group policies and guidelines that apply to all associates.
  • Recognise when another team member requires assistance and act on this.

Clinical

  • Your primary role is to liaise with all services to coordinate veterinary procedures and patient movements, ensuring all admission and treatment plans are completed by the vet in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Create systems for patient flow to improve efficiency within the hospital, review and adjust as necessary
  • Encourage the reporting of critical incidents via Halo.
  • Clinical Governance – identify areas affecting patient flow are problematic and perform audits as appropriate to identify areas for improvement and training

Desired skills

  • 3+yrs in Clinical veterinary Practice
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a multi-disciplinary hospital
  • Experience communicating to a large a team
  • Quick learner, able to adapt to a dynamic environment

Required

  • RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Evidence of CPD/career progression to date
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to use word-processing programs
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills
  • Remains calm under pressure and solves problems
  • Knowledge of Excel or other data sheets
