Paragon Referrals in Wakefield, West Yorkshire have a fantastic and rare opportunity to join the veterinary imaging team, focusing on the use of our state-of-the-art MRI and CT.
This role will involve working alongside our Radiographer, Diagnostic Imager and Veterinary Surgeons to perform a full range of MRI, CT and fluoroscopy examinations to a high quality.
You will be supporting and assisting the multiple services at Paragon including Neurology, Oncology, Medicine, Orthopaedics and Soft Tissue, with an interesting and varied caseload.
We are looking for a radiographer with a degree level qualification in Diagnostic Radiography and 3 years+ experience in MRI and CT.
Previous experience of working within the veterinary industry is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided
The position is full time (40 hours) and flexible working will be considered
Key duties will include but are not limited to;
- Operating the Toshiba 1.5T Vantage Elan MRI scanner, 16 slice Toshiba Lightening Aquilion CT and fluoroscopy
- Adhering to all H&S regulations
- Infection control
- Communicating with all team members
- Working with patient coordinator to run the order of the day
- In absence of Lead Radiographer run daily QA and other necessary checks.

The centre opened its doors in 2018 so the centre is still new and benefits from its clean and modern design. The hospital benefits from being close to the beautiful rural Yorkshire countryside yet also has excellent main road links to via the M1 and M62. We are within easy access of Leeds. The nearest airport is Leeds and Bradford and we are within easy access of Manchester.
There is plenty to do in the surrounding area for adults, families and children with Yorkshire Sculpture Park, National Trust properties and endless walks either in the Peak District, Yorkshire moors or Yorkshire dales.
The hospital boasts state of the art equipment and is extremely well equipped for ophthalmology. We have a dedicated Zeiss Ophthalmic microscope with video capabilities and B&L phacoemulsification machine. The ophthalmology team are led by globally recognised diplomate James Rushton and also work closely in collaboration with Veterinary Vision (as with other centres within the Linnaeus group).
We are keen to support development of vets throughout their careers and have a number of residency programmes as well as a rotating internship.
Paragon have an exceptionally friendly team for which you can feel the friendly team atmosphere as soon as you enter the building. They also benefit from having anaethetists and two ECC diplomates on site and an exceptional nurse team They also have a dedicated nurse training lead who is responsible for quality training, mentoring and supporting the nurses who all undertake regular training and specific area inductions. The team also comprise of globally recognised diplomates in medicine, oncology, anaesthesia, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, cardiology, neurology and ECC
