Surgery Technician – Soft Tissue & Orthopaedics

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Surgery Technician to support our Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic surgery team. This is a hands-on role at the heart of theatre, working closely with an experienced team of vets, nurses and technicians to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality surgical care.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structure, precision and teamwork, and who takes pride in maintaining high standards in theatre. You will play a key role in patient preparation, infection control, instrument care and stock management, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the surgical suite.

Key responsibilities
- Assist with patient handling and restraint, with awareness of patient temperament
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures
- Prepare, clean and maintain theatres and surgical areas
- Pack surgical kits and manage autoclaving in line with practice policy
- Care for and maintain surgical instruments, including specialist equipment
- Maintain accurate records of soft tissue and orthopaedic kits
- Support infection control through cleaning, laundry and waste disposal
- Monitor stock levels and manage ordering of supplies
- Support vets, nurses, and wider team as required
- Attend and contribute to practice meetings
- Undertake training and development to meet personal and practice objectives
Shift pattern
- 5 days per week, Monday to Friday
- Rotating shifts: 7am–3pm / 9am–5pm / 12pm–8pm
- 40 hours per week
- 12-month fixed term contract
