The team and practice

Blythwood Vets is a well-established small animal practice group that has been part of the local community for over 40 years. We operate across four closely located sites, with our main clinics based in Bushey and Hatch End, supported by smaller branches in Stanmore and Northwood.

Our team is passionate about delivering excellent clinical care while creating a positive experience for both pets and their owners. We are proud to have a genuinely supportive and collaborative culture where colleagues share knowledge, discuss cases and help each other develop.

Complex cases are often discussed as a team, and our experienced nursing team play a key clinical role in patient care and inpatient monitoring. We are part of the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme and are also a training practice for veterinary nurses.

While the role is primarily based within our multi-vet clinics in Bushey and Hatch End, occasional sole charge may be required. We’re therefore looking for a vet who is confident in their clinical decision making, able to use their initiative and happy working both independently and collaboratively within the wider team.

The practice also works closely with Cats Protection in Harrow, offering a great opportunity for vets with a particular interest in feline medicine or charity work.

Many of our clients have been with the practice for years, and with a high proportion of insured patients you’ll have the opportunity to build genuine relationships and follow cases through rather than practising conveyor-belt medicine.

The team itself is friendly, sociable and supportive. From shared lunches and the occasional well-stocked snack cupboard to team dinners and trips to the local pub, we genuinely enjoy spending time together and creating a positive place to work.

Bushey itself offers the best of both worlds. It’s a charming and leafy Hertfordshire town with a real village feel, full of character and green spaces, yet everything you need is close by. Watford is just minutes away, offering great shopping, restaurants and transport links, and Watford Junction provides fast trains into central London in under 20 minutes. For anyone relocating, it’s a fantastic location that balances countryside charm with city accessibility.
