• Veterinary Surgeon

    Location: 45 Standbridge Lane, Sandal, Wakefield, West Yorkshire Hours: Full time, Part time Practice: Calder Vets Sandal Salary: Up to £55,000 Closing Date: 9th December Practice Details Calder Vets Sandal

Calder Vets is a central Tier 3 Veterinary Hospital with 10 satellite clinics. We now have a fantastic opportunity available at our Sandal site to welcome a Veterinary Surgeon to our fantastic team.

We believe in work-life balance and offer a great rota;

  • Full and part time applications welcomed. Flexible rota available
  • Contract between 20- 40 hours per week available
  • Full time rota is just 3.5 days per week
  • 1 in 4 weekends

Here at Calder Vets we welcome referrals from across Yorkshire and we are proud to provide our own 24-hour on site emergency care through our dedicated ECC night team.  We offer a full range of primary care services, such as consultations, preventative healthcare, vaccinations, routine and non-routine surgery, dentistry and imaging (x-ray and ultrasound).  We are also able to offer some advanced services such as laparoscopy, endoscopy, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, cardiology, ophthalmology and CT scans, and we have our own rehabilitation service with physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and laser therapy.

We have a fantastic team across all of our sites and we all support each other. We often discuss clinical cases and get involved in social events. We have a large Vet team and are supported by fantastic nursing and front of house teams. 6 of our Vets are working towards certificates in Surgery, Imaging, Dermatology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology.

Our sandal practice is one of our smaller satellite sites with 2 consultation rooms. The majority of your role will be consulting with the chance to include a day a week at our Wakefield practice, should you wish to also incorporate operating days into your role. Our Wakefield site is self sufficient with all of the equipment that you would expect of a first opinion site, including x-ray. If you would prefer a consultation only role, this is something that we could cater for at our sandal practice. This is a fantastic role for an all-round GP Vet Surgeon looking for a rewarding position. We have a wonderful, friendly, client base and the role can offer the chance to build great rapport with clients and the opportunity to work more independently but still be part of a larger group and network. We have a team of 2 Vets covering our sandal site and a fantastic nursing and front of house team.

Our ethos is clinical excellence and we try and live by our Core Values. Client and patient care is at the heart of what we do and we are proud to be a Cat Friendly Clinic. We run on 15 minute consults as a minimum.

Due to continued success we have scope for Veterinary Surgeons looking for the next step in their career, as well as for Vet looking to work towards a Certificate or a more experienced cert holder looking for a more specialised role, especially those with an interest in medicine or imaging.
