Rotational RVN – Wards and ICU
Full-time | 40 hours per week | 1 in 8 weekends
Why should you apply?
If you are an RVN with a keen interest in inpatient care and the utilisation/development of intensive care skills, this is a role where you will be able to grow and thrive.
This is a friendly, nurse-led team with the opportunity to work with a wide range of cases from various disciplines.
What makes this role different?
We combine primary care and referral caseloads, meaning you will continue to use your core GP skills while gaining exposure to more complex referral cases. You will work across an integrated wards and ICU department, caring for patients from multiple disciplines including:
- Neurology
- Soft tissue
- Orthopaedics
- Dentistry
- Ophthalmology
- Internal medicine
- Cardiology
Our nursing team rotate through a range of shift times on both the general ward and ICU shifts including:
- Early: 7am to 5pm
- Mid shifts: 8:30am to 6:30pm or 10am to 8pm
- Late: 12pm to 10pm
The rota is published 8 weeks in advance.
You will work 40 hours per week, typically across four 10-hour days.
Weekend commitment is 1 in 8, with time off in lieu the following week.
Lunch is paid. Nurses working 10-hour shifts receive a 1-hour paid lunch. If working an 8-hour shift, lunch is 30 minutes paid.
Support and induction
You will receive:
- A structured induction plan
- Two weeks of shadowing with at least one week shadowing ward/ICU nurses specifically
- Early one-to-one check-ins with skills list support
- Gradual progression onto full shifts
The team includes nurses qualified for 1 year through to 6 or 7 years, creating a balanced mix of experience.
We are ideally looking for a nurse with at least 1 year post-qualification experience, particularly if coming from primary care. However, we are open to considering less experienced candidates for the right fit. Referral experience is beneficial but not essential.
The Team
The team is friendly, collaborative and supportive. Nurses are encouraged to share ideas, advocate for their patients and contribute to how the department runs.
If you are proactive, forward-thinking and motivated to develop your skills, particularly within ICU and emergency care, this role will offer strong clinical exposure and support.
