Eastcott Continues Growth With Four New Appointments
A multidisciplinary animal hospital has recently expanded its expert team with the appointment of four new team members as it continues its impressive growth.
Eastcott Veterinary Referrals, which is based in Swindon and part of Linnaeus, has welcomed Tiago Henriques, Gerard Olivares, Justin Grace, and Ben Fayers, to its team after a period of exceptional growth at the practice.
The new recruits come from a range of backgrounds across the veterinary world and will bring an impressive array of expertise to Eastcott.
Gerard Olivares joined the Small Animal Medicine Service at Eastcott Veterinary Referrals in August as an internal medicine specialist.
Gerard graduated from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2014 and, after two years of small animal practice in Spain and Ireland, he moved to the UK to undertake a one-year general internship at the Animal Health Trust.
He then completed a residency in small animal internal medicine at the Animal Health Trust and the Royal Veterinary College. He successfully passed his final board examinations in August 2021 to become a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Gerard is interested in all aspects of medicine, especially in haematology, autoimmune conditions and gastroenterology.
Tiago Henriques has also joined the Small Animal Internal Medicine Service in June this year. Tiago graduated from the University of Évora in 2013 following which he moved to the UK in 2014.
He did two rotating internships and a specialised internship in internal medicine, before starting his residency programme in June 2018 at the University of Nottingham/Pride Veterinary Centre. Tiago has a passion for internal medicine. The subjects he particularly enjoys include infectious diseases and critical care cases, as well as using evidence-based medicine and innovative or novel techniques to manage cases, ideally as minimally invasively as possible.
Justin has joined Eastcott as its new veterinary anaesthetist. With a drive to practice balanced anaesthesia, Justin graduated with a BVSc from the veterinary faculty of the University of Pretoria in 2016 and has since gained a wealth of anaesthesia experience in multiple species ranging from fish to dogs and gorillas.
Recently, Justin graduated with his MMedVet (Anaesthesia) and is studying for his European board exams.
Finally, Ben has joined our emergency and critical care service. Since qualifying with a Bachelor’s in veterinary medicine, Ben has worked at a busy small animal hospital on a wide range of emergency and critical cases.
He is particularly interested in the management of acute trauma patients, providing targeted fluid therapy and multimodal analgesia.
Duncan Barnes, clinical director at Eastcott, welcomed the new arrivals, saying: “We take great pride in the level of care that we offer our patients here at Eastcott, and each member of our team brings their own expertise within our multidisciplinary approach.
“We are delighted to have several new members join our team and I extend a warm welcome to them all. I am sure with their passion, expertise and dedication, we will continue to see each of our services grow in strength and depth.”
Eastcott offers expert care in anaesthesia and analgesia, cardiology, dentistry, internal medicine, ophthalmology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, oncology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, laparoscopy, neurology, diagnostic imaging, CT and MRI, and emergency and critical care.
