Leading animal hospital and referral centre Anderson Moores has recruited a new specialist to its expert team.

The Linnaeus-owned practice, in Winchester, Hampshire, has appointed small animal specialist Andrew Phillips, a former lecturer at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC).

Andrew is looking forward to the new role, explaining: “It is exciting to be part of a large and dynamic multidisciplinary team providing gold standard care to pets and clients.

“I have a keen interest in all areas of orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, particularly the management of trauma cases, minimally invasive surgery and oncological surgery, and I’m relishing the opportunity to make an important contribution to Anderson Moores.”

Anderson Moores director David Walker said: “I am delighted to welcome Andrew on board. He will be a real asset to the team, our referring vets, clients and pets.”

Andrew graduated from the RVC and spent the first few years of his career in mixed and small animal practice.

He went on to complete an internship at Bristol Vet school followed by a year as an anatomy demonstrator at Bristol University teaching undergraduates.

He became an associate fellow of the higher education academy, before returning to the RVC to complete a three-year residency programme.

Andrew spent a further three years working at the RVC as a lecturer in Small Animal Surgery and completed a post graduate certificate in veterinary education, before moving to Anderson Moores’ fellow Linnaeus hospital, Eastcott Veterinary Referrals in Swindon.

He passed the qualifying examination for the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) and became a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) recognised specialist in small animal surgery in 2018.

Andrew continues to contribute to the profession through the provision of practical and didactic professional development courses, lecturing at conferences and publication of scientific papers.

Anderson Moores offers specialist care in anaesthesia and analgesia, cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, feline hyperthyroid clinic, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery.
