A renowned surgery specialist is joining a leading Dublin veterinary practice and hopes to help them further develop the procedures he is renowned for.

Javier Rincon Alvarez, an EBVS® Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Surgery, will take up his new role at Linnaeus-owned MyVet, which has three clinics across the Dublin and Kildare area, in September.

He enjoys all aspects of small animal surgery and has a particular interest in traumatology, complex fracture repair and minimally invasive soft tissue procedures.

Javier, who worked at fellow Linnaeus-owned Davies Veterinary Specialists in the UK for over two years, said: “I’m delighted to have joined the highly regarded and knowledgeable team ay MyVet.

“The vet practice has an enviable reputation and I aim to use my skills to promote MyVet so we can continue to provide a first-class level of care to even more sick and injured animals.”

After qualifying from Complutense University in Madrid in 2012, Javier spent two years in Paris working in a busy emergency clinic for a year. This was followed by a rotating internship in one of the largest private referral centres in Paris.

Javier next undertook a small animal surgical residency and obtained a Masters in Veterinary Medicine in gait analysis in dogs at the University of Glasgow.

More recently, Javier became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgery (DECVS) in July 2021.

Now at MyVet, Javier hopes to develop and promote certain procedures concentrating on interventional radiology procedures.

Liam Moriarty, founder of MyVet, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Javier to MyVet as we continue to invest in highly skilled professionals.

“Javier has extensive experience and expertise which will prove invaluable in further enhancing our specialist-led services.”
