One of Scotland’s leading veterinary referral centres has appointed a new hospital director with a focus on ensuring the best possible patient journey.

Anne-Marie Dougherty has just taken up her new role at Linnaeus-owned Veterinary Specialists Scotland (VSS) in Livingston and has already been impressed with the purpose-designed facility and team’s dedication to their patients and clients.

Other areas which Anne-Marie will concentrate on are driving forward the leading reputation of VSS, while also looking to build on its collaborative environment and relationships with primary care practices.

It is the first time Anne-Marie has worked in the veterinary sector, having previously enjoyed a successful career in retail for 30 years, which she believes will help her new position.

She said: “The patient and client journeys are my key priorities and an area I am very passionate about and which has been embedded throughout my career.

“Although I’ve only just stepped through the doors at VSS, I’ve been blown away by the facility and the high level of care the patients receive.

“Already impressed, I want to immerse myself within the hospital within all areas to gain as much knowledge and understanding of how the hospital operates in order to further benefit our patients.”

Outside of work, Anne-Marie enjoys going for walks in the surrounding Scottish countryside with the family pet, an energic labradoodle.

VSS is a specialist-led multidisciplinary referral centre offering industry-leading services in cardiology, dermatology, internal medicine (feline and canine), neurology, orthopaedics, and soft tissue surgery, supported by specialists in diagnostic imaging and anaesthesia and analgesia.
