Little Dog Finds Himself 12 Stones Lighter Thanks To Anderson Moores

A tiny Shih Tzu dog ended up 12 stones lighter after emergency treatment at one of the UK’s leading animal hospitals.
Five-year-old Chunk had been left feeling very rocky after chomping down the stones and needed urgent care at Linnaeus-owned Anderson Moores in Winchester, Hampshire.
Anderson Moores’ internal medicine specialist Josh Walker handled the case and skillfully managed to remove the stones without the need for surgery.
RCVS specialist Josh explained: “Chunk had clearly decided that he fancied an additional snack but it certainly did not agree with him.
“His concerned owners quickly took him to their local vets who investigated, with X-rays identifying some foreign material in his stomach, so he was referred to us for specialist care.
“Given the opacity of these objects we believed these foreign objects were likely to be stones.
“We carried out an emergency endoscopy, a thin tube containing a mini camera and tools which are passed down the throat, and all 12 of the stones were carefully removed one by one.
“It was a challenging and technical procedure and some stones were trickier than others but the vital thing was Chunk avoided the need for a surgical operation.
“After we had removed the stones, Chunk, not surprisingly, appeared much happier and he was allowed home soon afterwards.”
