It’s a case of many happy returns for the new clinical director of a Leicestershire veterinary practice who is taking the reins of the site where she completed her postgraduate studies.

Claudia Faria first joined Linnaeus-owned Woodward Veterinary Centre in Ashby de la Zouch in 2006, completing her post-grad qualifications in small animal surgery and diagnostic imaging.

Claudia initially stayed for seven years before returning to Woodward’s expert team in 2021, becoming lead vet the following year and now being appointed clinical director.

She said: “I am looking forward to keeping my team, clients and pets happy by providing the best service possible.

“My key responsibilities are the overall leadership of the practice and driving forward the clinical services, commercial performance and development of the team.

“Most of all, I want to try to go home every day knowing I have done my very best for the patients, their owners and our team.”

Claudia graduated from Universidade de Tras os Montes and Alto Douro, Portugal, in 2004 before embarking on her veterinary career in the UK.

She added: “I qualified in Portugal and then came straight over to work in England for an experience... and I am still here!

“I started in the North East as full-time veterinary surgeon assistant for a year-and-a-half before moving to Woodward in 2006.

“I then moved to Essex, before returning to Woodwards in August 2021 and becoming lead vet in September 2022.”

Away from work, Claudia is interested in travelling, spending time with family and friends, cooking, reading and cross stitch.
