Willows double ECC offering with specialist appointment
The acclaimed Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) service at our West Midlands referral centre Willows has been expanded following the appointment of another leading specialist
The whole team are delighted to welcome ECC specialist Poppy Gant to Willows. Poppy, who graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2014, said she was delighted to be joining one of Europe’s leading small animal referral hospitals.
She said: “Even when I was studying at university, my ultimate goal was always to specialise in emergency and critical care.
“Immediately after graduating, I completed two emergency-focused internships and then spent a year working as a busy hospital vet before embarking on a three-year residency programme at the Royal Veterinary College in London.
“I’ve now completed my training, passed my specialist exams and I’m keen to use my skills and experience to help further develop the provision of emergency and critical care at Willows.”
Willows’ clinical director Toby Gemmill is equally keen for Poppy to utilise her specialist skills at our state-of-the-art small animal hospital.
He said: “Having previously worked in several busy hospital, it means Poppy is experienced in managing a wide variety of critically-ill patients.
“What’s more, her specialist training is particularly useful as part of the multidisciplinary approach offered at Willows, which really benefits the most severely ill patients with multiple, complex problems.”
Here at Willows, we pride ourselves on the excellence of the care and treatment we deliver at our specialist referral hospital, which includes 14 separate disciplines.
Managing director Tracey Morley Jewkes said Willows patients, clients and referring vets can be assured of access to a dedicated team of world-leading veterinary surgeons and highly trained and committed nurses.
She said: “Our ECC service is led by internationally-renowned ECC specialists and provides an outstanding level of care for pets with critical disorders in one of the best equipped veterinary intensive care units in Europe.
