Location: Village Vet Cambridge, Milton
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (dependent on experience)
Hours: Mixture of early and late shifts (rota to be confirmed)
Village Vet Cambridge, Milton is a thriving 24-hour veterinary hospital, part of the Linnaeus Group. We are seeking a Lead Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join our dynamic team and take responsibility for supporting, guiding, and developing our night team while also building strong connections between our day and night teams.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse with proven leadership skills to shape and influence the future of our out-of-hours nursing service.
The Role
As Lead RVN, you will:
Line manage the night nursing team (approx. 6 RVNs), ensuring they feel supported, motivated, and equipped to deliver excellent care.
Work a mixture of early and late shifts to bridge the gap between the day and night teams, strengthening communication and collaboration across the hospital.
Be predominantly clinical on the floor, leading by example, supporting the team during busy times, and ensuring high standards of nursing care.
Undertake line management responsibilities, including PDRs, recruitment, and pastoral support for your team.
Take part in fortnightly line manager meetings, working closely with the Clinical Nursing Manager and Lead Vets.
Have protected admin/leadership time (approx. half a day per week), with flexibility to work some of this from home.
Play an active role in shaping the future of our out-of-hours nursing provision, helping us grow and innovate in this crucial area of our hospital.
About You
We are looking for a strong, confident leader who thrives in a busy hospital environment. You will be:
An experienced RVN (minimum 3 years post-qualification).
At least 1 year in a leadership or line management role.
Passionate about teamwork, motivation, and mentorship.
Resilient, positive, and able to inspire others – especially during the challenges of night work.

Innovative and driven, with the ability to identify improvements and implement change.
Ideally experienced in emergency and critical care (ECC), though ECC certificates are not essential.
This role would suit someone who has successfully managed a smaller team and is now looking to take the next step into a more senior leadership position.
