JOB TITLE: VETERINARY PHARMACY & PURCHASING ASSISTANT

SITE: LONDON VET SPECIALISTS, HAMMERSMITH, LONDON, W6 9RS 

REPORTING TO:  HOSPITAL MANAGER 

London Vet Specialists have an exciting opportunity for an organised and professional Pharmacy & Purchasing Assistant to join their team. In this role you will have the opportunity to work in a thriving state-of-the-art multidisciplinary veterinary referral hospital, providing exceptional service pivotal to the delivery of patient care. The role is full-time at 40-hours per week.

The purpose of this position is to serve as a member of the Clinical Operational Team, delivering high level service distribution to our clinical teams, clients, and referring vet practices.

This will include:

  • Procuring clinical supplies to include medications, consumables, and equipment.
  • Stock control, to include quarterly audits and accounting.
  • Financial governance of period budgets.
  • Clinical governance relative to medication storage, handling, and dispensing.
  • Liaising with pet owners and referring vet practices on prescription requirements.
  • Clear closed loop communication pathways with clinical and client care teams.
  • Accurate digital record keeping across various platform.

Our Pharmacy & Purchasing Assistant should create a positive image on the first impressions of our business, remaining calm, courteous, and professional to clients and colleagues. Ensuring clients and colleagues feel confident in our service delivery, and at ease whilst under our care. 

This position requires a practical knowledge of the hospital’s multidisciplinary services; the basic principles and regulations governing dispensing pharmaceuticals, medical terminology, and basic veterinary care. Accuracy in transcribing information with the knowledge and awareness of the hospitals standard operating procedures.

Candidate Specifications:

The candidate will need to be confident, committed, and able to work well under pressure, with exceptional organisational skills. Their ability to prioritise and multi-task is vital. Their ability to work well within an evolving team is crucial, as well as being confident to self-autonomously and independently focus on activities.  

Previous experience in pharmaceuticals or hospital operations is essential for this role. The ideal candidate will be suitability qualified diploma holder in pharmaceutical, registered veterinary nurse, or SQP holder. They will have a minimum of 1-year experience within veterinary or human healthcare
