Job Title: Exotic/Small Mammal Veterinary Surgeon

Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on experience

Location: City Vets, Exeter, Devon

Job Type: Permanent, full-time, and part-time applications are welcomed.  

Hours: 38 hours per week, plus a share of the weekend rota 1:10 Full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and 1:10 Saturday only.

We have a unique opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon with a certificate in Exotics/Small Mammals to join our team at City Vets, in Exeter, Devon.

The friendly team at City Vets are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to take on and progress the Exotic and small mammal service. This will include working alongside small animal vets to provide care for first opinion and referral clients as well as providing advice and care for local collections at Bicton, Crealy, and Wildwoods.

You will be involved with the routine small animal work as needed, with support from multiple certificate and diploma-holding colleagues. We have outstanding facilities at our hospital premises with further study supported and encouraged, including certificates.

We are looking for someone who is confident, friendly, and proactive, but also compassionate and caring for both the patient and the client. This role will be based at our main site in Heavitree and St Thomas branch, you will be required to contribute to the weekend rota equally shared amongst the team. Our on-call is outsourced but we remain on a rota for inpatient care if needed.

Our Alphington and St Thomas surgeries are proud to be accredited at Silver Level as Cat-Friendly Clinics by the International Society of Feline Medicine. Additionally, St Thomas have the Silver Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund Standard (RWAF) and Heavitree is a Gold Standard RWAF practice.

We also work closely with the Guide Dog Association helping to care for training and qualified dogs, Blue Cross, and Cats Protection neutering programs.
