About us

Veterinary Specialists Scotland is a newly established and rapidly expanding, purpose-built, multi-disciplinary referral centre in the heart of Scotland. Based in Livingston, just 20 minutes away from Edinburgh, 40 minutes from Glasgow and 15 minutes from the Edinburgh International Airport, it allows for easy access to cities, or for an escape to the hills and sea.

Since opening in October 2020, we have expanded from 8 to 17 specialists and residency-trained clinicians across seven clinical disciplines. These include soft tissue, orthopaedics, neurology, internal medicine, emergency and critical care, cardiology, dermatology, and anaesthesia and analgesia. Our hospital is well-equipped with the best technology and equipment including MRI, CT, digital radiography, fluoroscopy, endoscopy and advanced diathermy, and our building has huge potential for future expansion.

Your role and responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity to join our nursing team as an in-patient care nurse. This candidate will experience a varied and challenging caseload as they work within all ward areas of the hospital. Our in-patient care nurses are responsible for providing all aspects of basic and advanced nursing care, including monitoring and the formulation of nursing care plans, nutrition and assisted feeding techniques, post-operative care of surgical procedures, and recovery from medical procedures. At VSS, we encourage and support patient-friendly practice and place high standards of care at the forefront of everything we do.

Working within our dynamic clinical team, the successful candidates will ideally have a good background in referral work, however this is not essential.

As a member of the Linnaeus family, we are committed to the professional development of our nurses, and therefore provide comprehensive support and resources to help individuals reach their full potential.
